The Development Squad - 2012/13 Invicta 3 Champions2012/13 - AN OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR SEASON

The 2012/13 season has been another great one for our senior sides.

In their first season in London 2 South East, Head Coach Taff Gwilliam and Captain Liam Weobley led the First XV to a highly creditable 4th place in the League.

Medway 1st XV players Ryan Redman and George Oram have both been selected to represent the England Counties Under 20 side and will take part in a two test tour to Georgia in May. Additionally, Ryan and George plus Ollie Best and Douglas Ebanks represented Kent U20s against Hertfordshire on Sunday 10th February.

Meanwhile, Medway's Ladies currently occupy second place in the Women's NC South East South 2 League. From the Girl's section Rebecca 'Boo' Wadhams, Rhiannon O'Kane and Taz Bricknell were selected to the London & South East England Girls Under 15's squad and all were then selected to play in their first match vs the South West at Frome RFC Somerset on Sunday 17th February. Girls from both the Under 18 and Under 15 squads have represented Kent this season.

In only their second season in Invicata 2 the Extra First XV pipped Maidstone II to third place whilst the Development Squad secured the Invicta 3 Championship in front of their own fans against Aylesford Bulls III with one week of the league campaign remaining.

In the merit leagues our 'A' XV finished the season comfortably in mid table whilst the Holcs secured a well earned fourth spot (Shepherd Neame Dragon Fire 5 and Shepherd Neame Early Bird 6 West respectively).

Socially, our Vets side won the Ashford Festival Plate and are still in with a shout in the Evergreen Plate with a semi-final due shortly.

And then of course we have the Buxton Festival Weekend to look forward to (10-12 May), the Annual Senior Dinner on the 17 May and the Summer Ball (7 June).

A great season and a hearty congratulations to all our senior sides - well done!. And remember - we don't play for Medway. We are MEDWAY!!
