Sidcup 60 Medway 5 - 22 January 2012
Tough day today, we knew from playing them last season in the Kent Quarter Finals that Sidcup would be a tough team and that proved to be.
Today they were on top form, their forwards dominated the rucking and applied huge pressure on our lads from the off, their mauling was superb. Combined with quick hands out to the backs they had us on the back foot.
From a Medway point of view some real positives
Heads stay high and you all kept at the task, despite the score and the injuries (Colin B commented it was like an episode of Casualty!!)
Great pressure from us for the 5 minutes before half time and ten minutes after leading to our try. When we played our game, it showed results.
I cannot pick any individual performance, you all played fantastically well and your team spirit after the match is a credit to you all ( Gracious in defeat and victory!!)
But we cannot hide the fact that Sidcup is the level we aspire to be, we need to work hard on tackling from everyone, rucking, mauling and finally confidence in our forwards gaining field position.
So we take the lessons from today and work them into training. As long as we learn from the hard lessons like today, we will continue to move forward.
Thanet next week will be another hard game, but bring it on!!
Now rest up those injuries and enjoy the rest of your day.
Best Regards,
Paul
