This week the under 12 girls made a trip to the other side of the river for the first time to play in a festival organised by Canvey Island. The sun was shining for a change and the girls were looking forward to playing against new teams.
The day was really well organised with each team playing 3 games, Medway started off against a barbarians team made of three other clubs and put in a dominant performance scoring 11 tries to the opposition 4. A really good start that filled the girls with confidence.
Their second game was a much closer match with Dagenham and Redbridge which saw Medway dig deep to run in the winners by 7 tries to 6 putting into practice the skills to gain and keep possession that they have been focusing on for the last few weeks.
The final game unfortunately ended at half time with the match awarded to Medway due to serous foul play by the other team.
The Medway girls maintained their discipline and excellent attitude in the face of serious provocation earning them the praise of the officials. They also played fantastically as a team showing how they had taken away the lessons learned in training. Despite the incident in the final game they never stopped enjoying playing rugby and playing with their team mates with huge smiles, laughter general nuttiness we have come to know them for. They represented the very best values of rugby, and Medway RFC making their coaches and parents rightfully proud. #lovedandfeared
