Matt Kuhn took the role on 4 years ago, but due to ever increasing work commitments he will step down at the end of this season. Matt has been coaching at the club for 15 years and has served as first Head and then the Director of Women's and Girl’s Rugby for the last four years.
With wife Kate, he has also watched all three of his children move through the club.
He said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of this journey. The passion, commitment, and sense of community across our players, coaches, parents, and volunteers is what makes Medway so special.
"While we’ve achieved so much already, I truly believe the potential of this section is even greater—and now is the right moment to find and hand over to a new Director of Rugby to help lead it into its next chapter across our Girls and Womens sections.
"I’ll remain fully committed to supporting a smooth transition and ensuring the section is in the strongest possible position for the future.
"Thank you for the support, trust, laughs, tours, trophies and enthusiasm over so many years. It's been a blast, a journey I will never forget -Loved and Feared."
Under Matt's leadership, the women and girls section has grown to the largest in the UK, become the first to introduce contracts for the senior women's section and seen three former Medway girls pull on the England U21 shirt. More than 50 players have represented their county and several have progressed into Premiership positions.
Club chair Tracy Bullock said:“Matt has played a truly pivotal role in building what is now one of the most successful and respected women and girls rugby sections in the country. His passion, vision and tireless commitment over many years have helped create opportunities for hundreds of players and families at Medway.
"On behalf of the whole club I want to thank him for everything he has given — not just as Director of Rugby, but as a coach, mentor and champion of the women’s game. While we will miss him in this role, his legacy within the club will be felt for many years to come.”
