A rare sunny day on the 24th March saw the under 14 girls head to Ashford for a return fixture. The home game early in the season had seen the closest of games end in a draw so this would be good test of where they come since then.
The first half saw as before a very tight game where neither team could break away and both put up mean defense to deny the other a chance. Medway made the first breakthrough with Pheobe Elliot Bloomfield finding a gap to race away and score. The conversion added by Alex Turner. Unfortunately Ashford also scored a converted try to end the game 7 points each.
After a pep talk at half time the Medway girls got into the second half fired up and dominated the game with hard running, support play and aggressive tackling. They spent most of this time in the opposition half and never looked like conceding another score. They also ran in three more tries of their own as Freya Haynes dotted down a charged down ball, Anna Bentley raced clear from a scrum and Amelia Massey crashed over the line. The game ended 22-7 in favour of Medway.
This certainly shows the improvement the girls have made since the start of the season. With one game 15 a side game left we look forward to playing Sevenoaks. Thanks as always to our parents for travelling again. #lovedandfeared
