After the fun and games of The RAF Halton Festival last week, Medway U14s were straight back to the action this week with a trip to a well drilled Dartfordians team who had delayed the start of their season to get in some extra training.
The game started off very competitively, with both teams working hard at the breakdown. Dartfordians were eventually first to score but Medway came back with a score of their own just minutes later through Ashleigh who was unable to convert her own try, evening things up at 5 points each. From then on it all went Dartfordians’ way. Medway fought hard at the breakdown, turning the ball over several times but
putting numbers into the breakdown meant that Dartfordians had space on the wings. They were quick to exploit the space, scoring another five unconverted tries to make the score Dartfordians 30 Medway 5 at half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Dartfordians scoring another 2 unconverted tries before Medway came back with a great team try of their own finished off by Ashleigh. After that it was one way traffic, with Dartfordians scoring another 5 tries, the last of which was converted to make the score Dartfordians 50 Medway 10 at full time.
Despite the score, Medway never stopped fighting and everyone was pleased to see Imogen come on for the last 10 minutes. She certainly made an impact, returning from injury to put in the tackle of the game. Special mention to the forwards who, due to injuries, had to play the entire game.
Forward of the match Freya, back of the match Ashleigh and Coaches player Jess.
