We travelled to Ashford on a bright and sunny morning for our first Waterfall (league) fixture of the season, and the girls arrived in great spirits and ready for battle!

From the moment the whistle blew, it was an absolute joy to watch, with both sides giving as good as they got. The game was incredibly competitive, with plenty of attacks, big defensive efforts and action in both halves of the pitch.

Ashford came with plenty of numbers into the rucks, but our forwards weren’t backing down! Izzy S, Elly P, Franki E, Amber G, Adelise H, Blossom R, Mabel G, Ophelia T, Fifi S and Elsie M worked tirelessly, pushing hard in the scrums and battling for every ball.

Our backs — Isabella G, Danica D, Lola L, Emiliah S, Indie F, Macy C, Mollie S, Charlotte W, Gabby E and Imogen P — gave absolutely everything, driving forward whenever they had the opportunity and putting in some huge defensive efforts.

There were some seriously powerful tackles flying in from Mabel G, Lola L, Mollie S, Ophelia T, Charlotte W and Imogen P.

Ashford managed to spot a few gaps and took their opportunities, but the final scoreline really doesn't tell the story of how hard these girls fought. Medway battled right to the final whistle and came desperately close to getting a try or two of their own, including one attempt that was just held up!

It just wasn’t our day on the scoreboard, but there is absolutely nothing for these girls to hang their heads about. The referee and supporters were full of praise afterwards, saying it was some of the best girls’ rugby they’d seen.

Unfortunately, we somehow managed to miss getting a team photo..... so today's official photo has to be the beautiful fruit platter provided by the Parson family!

Huge well done to every single girl who put everything into that game. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves.

Heads high, girls!
