The Medway U14 Girls travelled to Lordswood RFC on Sunday to face Bullswood, the combined team from Lordswood and Aylesford. Off the back of last week’s win, the girls arrived full of confidence and eager to get back on the pitch.

From the very start, Medway dominated, with the forwards showing immense strength and determination as they powered through the Bullswood defensive line. Elly P was particularly impressive, cutting through the defence like a hot knife through butter! Alongside her, Blossom R was hugely influential in the forwards, getting involved in every ruck. Her confidence has improved tenfold, and it was fantastic to see her throwing herself into the action.

Our rucking was much improved from last week, with the ball being cleared quickly from the breakdowns thanks to some excellent work from Bells G and Danica D.

Bullswood, however, showed that they were more than capable of fighting back. Their jackaling was superb, and they managed to secure and win back possession on numerous occasions. Fifi S had several brilliant breakthroughs, but Bullswood were quick to swarm all over her and prevent her from making further progress.

There were some fantastic defensive efforts from Imogen P, Mabel G, Amber-Rose O, Lola L and Franki E, who all put in some excellent tackles and showed great determination in defence.

And then came the tries! Medway had multiple try scorers, with Macy C, Amber G, Ophelia T, Mollie S and Elly P all crossing the line. A special mention must go to Elly P, who scored her first ever try — a fantastic achievement!

The conversions were also flying, with successful kicks from Danica D, Lola L and Ophelia T. There were a couple of agonising near misses too, with efforts from Indie F and both of Franki E's bouncing off the bar. So close!

There were some fantastic runs throughout the match from Isla K, Macy C and Mollie S, all helping to keep the pressure on Bullswood and create opportunities for the team.

Most importantly, the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves, played with confidence and showed some great improvements across the pitch. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to welcome Bullswood back for a return fixture soon!
