Medway’s Extra 1st XV (or ‘The Extra’s’ as they are known) provide the players for the club’s 2nd XV many of whom are challenging for a place in the 1st XV. Both teams train together in the ‘Senior Pod’ which ensures continuity of coaching as well as providing a challenging training environment where the younger players can learn from those with more experience. This season sees ‘The Extras’ being looked after by Mark Errington as Lead Coach with Steve Brightman assisting.
Having won the Counties 3 Kent league championship last season, The Extra’s gained promotion and will be playing in the very competitive Counties 2 Kent with a full fixture card for the 2023/24 season. Extras Coach Mark is confident that the team will do well commenting “We have a great mix of players in all positions many of whom are providing a real challenge to established 1st XV players and I would expect to see a number of them in the first team during the course of the season.”
The coaching and management team are keen to hear from any new player who wants to enjoy the challenge of playing at this level.
